# ATHLETE TOKENS - DEFLATION

All athlete tokens are deflationary, a percentage of tokens that are spent on the experience store will be burnt, reducing the supply over time. The athlete will receive a percentage of the tokens from these purchases.

If an athlete puts more effort into their token utility, then the supply will drop and with this, the athlete earns more tokens. 

In a typical sell operation, athlete tokens are burned in exchange for $BLOCK  tokens. This means that both the supply goes down *and* the amount of $BLOCK in the register. 

When athlete tokens are burned for experiences, all circulating athlete tokens are backed by more $BLOCK. This leads to several innovative tokenomics models.
